If you would like to request a search now, just go to the lost and found. . Below you’ll find the answers to some frequently asked questions: What is the smallest amount of information required for a search? We usually need the first and last name and a further reference point, e.g. an old address, date of birth or the school attended at the time. If you don’t know the name and it’s a relative that you are looking for, please call us at (telephone +49-30 - 263 90 60) How much does the search cost? The cost of our services starts at 99 euro and continues up to 779 euro. How much your search will cost primarily depends on how recent the latest known address is and in which country the search is being made. The amount and accuracy of the information you have is also relevant for the price. For more precise information please use our price calculator. Can the search be successful even if the information is over 30 years old?Yes, that’s a standard case. Can the search be successful if the birth or maiden name is the only information available?Yes that’s also a standard case. Do you also search abroad?Yes. We work with nativ speakers in english, spanish, italien, french, turkish, greek, portuguese and japanese speaking countries and in all skandinavian countries. Can you find my biological father?Yes. However, if your father is not on your birth certificate, we request the full payment. I’m adopted and I’m looking for my biological mother. Can you help me find her?Yes. In order to initiate contact, it would be helpful if you’ve already seen your adoption documents. You can get these at the adoption agency which was responsible for your adoption (usually to be found in the youth welfare office at your place of birth). In some cases the personnel of the adoption agency will do the search for you for free, ask them about it. We will still be able to search for your mother even if the documents cannot be found. Can you look for someone who’s been adopted?Searching for someone who’s been adopted is illegal. That’s regulated by the so-called Ausforschungsverbot (prohibition of invasion of privacy) (§1758 BGB). This is to prevent an adopted person from discovering the fact of their adoption from someone other than their adoptive parents. We recommend that you contact the youth welfare office or adoption agency that oversaw the adoption. The staff there can make contact with the adoptive family and inform them about your request. If you have questions about the procedure, or if you want assistance in communicating with the youth welfare office, please call us. The procedure will cause me a lot of emotional strain. Can you provide any support?Searching for biological relatives and similar experiences often results in emotional strain. We had this in mind when we founded Reunion Service e.V., and to accommodate the needs of our clients during these periods of stress, the company has developed a relationship with licensed psychologist Eszter Fischer. The organization can provide an advice hotline, with which Eszter Fischer can provide help in situations where both “first aid” and long time solutions are provided. Appointments can be booked at our office. It’s also possible to use our facilities for appointments with Mrs. Fischer. Personal consultations with Eszter Fisher cost 35€ for every half hour. We can also arrange, free of cost, for therapy opportunities throughout Germany for those who cannot travel to Berlin. Would it be possible that I make the first contact, instead of the agency?Yes, we can pass a letter from you to the person you’re looking for. Can you simply give me the address without an agreement from the person that I am looking for?No. What happens if the person I am looking for rejects the contact?Fortunately these cases are very rare but, of course, they do occur. We still charge our fee, as the person has been found, and no matter what we can still deliver a letter to the person. If it was a relative who rejected the contact, we can provide help through psychological counselling. What happens if the missing person is deceased?Unfortunately, we still have to charge you for our search since the person has been “found”. We will give you all the information that we have been able to gather (date of death, location of the grave and if possible a contact with the descendants). How long does a search take? For 100 euro additionally we’ll switch the "turbo on" and try to find the person within the date of your choice. This prioritizes your search before others to ensure that all of your questions get answered within the timeframe you provide. Who will know that I am doing this search? The basic principle is: Only the person you wish to contact will find out WHO is doing the search! Family members, friends and relatives will not get your name from us. In rare cases your name will be given to official agency personnel, but it will be protected by professional secrecy. Can I be your client, even though I’m not living in Germany?Yes. You can pay by creditcard with Paypal. What about information security? We work in line with the information security acts. Reunion Service operates in compliance with the § 4d Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (federal protection of information act) (BDSG), registered with the Nr: 553 in the Berlin register for data security officials. If your question has not been answered, please ask us directly. |
